Arenal Tours and Activities: Things to do in the Arenal Volcano Area
Sport fishing on Lake Arenal is inceasingly popular. Captain Ron's Fishing Tours is the premier fishing guide service fully equipped for North-American style fishing tours using top quality gear for conventional, spin, or fly fishing. Imagine yourself in boat at sunrise watching and listening to a live volcano! Fishing on Lake Arenal Costa Rica is definitely a unique experience to be appreciated by all fishermen worldwide looking for new places to explore. Most tours you will encounter several bird and animal species, including howler monkeys, white-face capuchin monkeys, giant iguanas, laughing falcons, ospreys, wild pigs, deer, pizotes, and sometimes the mysterious tayra and the giant anteater.

The tour starts at sunrise around 5.30am, the best time to fish on Arenal Lake. The Lake at this hour is incredibly beautiful and so quiet you are likely to hear the rumblings of the active volcano and the streaks of white that you'll learn are the boulders tumbling down the volcano.

Fish for the prized guapote and other fresh water fish found in Arenal Lake. Early mornings you’ll find the hungry guapotes– a hard-fighting fish - hiding in the shoreline vegetation hunting for sardines.Capitan Ron has a policy to catch and release the fish to preserve the eco-systems of Arenal Lake Costa Rica. Fishing tours are conducted rain or shine and only cancelled if it is considered dangerous. The fish are still hungry in the rain!
